Winter
Cycling
Wear appropriate winter clothing (layering is best) to prevent frostbite and
hypothermia
Wear a helmet as well as glasses or goggles
Ride slowly - traction and visibility may be reduced in winter
Be
on the lookout for potholes and black ice
Avoid breaking or turning on black ice - ride straight ahead or walk the bike
Ensure your bike is well maintained for winter cycling - lubricate the cables,
chains and all moving parts
For better traction in winter conditions, use flat, large-tread tires on your
bike
Pump up your tires more than you normally would and check the inflation
frequently
