Skating Safety
Make sure the skates you purchase are the right size for you - snug but not
uncomfortable
Always wear protective equipment when skating - helmet, knee and
elbow pads and wrist guards
Ensure your skates are in good condition, especially the wheels and brake
stoppers
Before starting out, warm up and stretch for at least 15 minutes - when
finished, take time to cool down
Instead of skating on public roads or sidewalks, use school yards or empty
parking lots which have flat, dry surfaces
Don't skate too fast - always be in control
observe all traffic regulations
