Camping Safety
Plan your camping trip ahead of time and leave a detailed plan of your camping
trip with a dependable person
Learn the basics of first-aid and don't forget to take the first-aid kit with
you
Obey all posted signs and warnings
Scout the campsite before building a camp
Keep your campsite clean
Put your food and cooking utensils our of reach of animals - never in tent
When building a fire, make sure the area is cleared of debris and is away from
trees, shrubs, tents and vehicles
Never leave a campfire unattended
Don't stand under a tree during a thunderstorm; move to the shoreline if you are
in a boat
Don't bring barbecues inside the tent for warmth. Use barbecues and
heaters safely in ventilated areas only
Ensure that children are properly supervised during all water activities,
including swimming, diving, boating, canoeing and water-skiing
Never approach and feed wild animals
